The Sarajevo Cable Car is definitely one of the greatest attractions of Sarajevo, a place of gathering and first love, but also a symbol of city's indestructible spirit and pride.
1ABOUT
The cable car was firstly built in 1959 in order to connect the city with the Trebević mountain range, the city's lungs, as the inhabitants called it. In that time, Sarajevo was among the few cities where one could reach pine forests in just 10 minutes from an urban city center. During the war aggresion against Bosnia and Herzegovina in period 1992-1995, cable car was totally destroyed, but in April of 2018, new and even more beautiful cable car was presented to the city and the whole world. The cable car system has 33 cabins, which can accommodate a total of 1,200 people. It can reach a speed of 5 meters per second, which means that the ride takes about seven minutes. One cabin can hold 10 people (max. 750 kilograms). Cable car operates from the city centre (street Hrvatin) to the top of mountain Trebević, where visitors can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Sarajevo, or take a walk in nature up to the Brus excursion site or Prvi Šumar. It is also possible to walk around the remnants of the Olympic bobsled track and Čolina Kapa observatory, and relax at one of the many hospitality facilities, such as Pino Nature, Brus, Trebevićki Raj, Level Up and Vila Andrea. Only with Sarajevo City Pass you can receive a discount of up to 50% on cable car tickets and enjoy one of the most attractive highlights of the city!
